2012 Raffle Bear

Sharon Barron’s raffle bear is 18" tall, made of hand dyed mohair, has glass eyes, 100% wool felt paws and is poly fiberfill stuffed. The accessories are a cotton American Flag with striped hat and bow. He is #1 of a limited edition of 15.
Sharon’s bears are uniquely created in her North County, San Diego home. She has always loved to sew and since a young lady she has been making patterns and designing various projects on her own.
The early 1900’s bear era is what Sharon really enjoys the most. Knowing that she likely will never own one, she strives to re-create their look. Sharon’s most popular bears are her patriotic bears wearing many types of American apparel. One of her successful lines is the Uncle Ted Collection of sweet little renditions of Uncle Sam.
Sharon and her husband of 41 years have 4 wonderful children and 8 grandchildren. In addition to making bears, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and taking them places like the San Diego Wild Animal Park or to the beach.
When not spending time with her family or making bears, Sharon attends shows including San Diego (CA), Timonium (MD), Binghamton (NY) and Hunt Valley (MD). Sharon looks forward to attending the shows so she can talk with the collectors and see their reaction to her efforts. This makes all of her hard work feel worthwhile. The bear world is very generous and helpful in sharing their knowledge of bear making. Some of Sharon’s very best friends are fellow artists and collectors from all over the globe.
