2010 Raffle Bear

GBW's 2010 Raffle Bear

Penny French of Black Mountain Bears created our 2010 Raffle bear. It is named "The Third Wish". This beautiful piece is 3 teddy bears, a solid brass "Aladdin's" lamp, a "magic" carpet and a trunk that holds everything together. The main bear is 16" tall, made with curly kid and dense curly mohair; the little brown bear is made with German wavy wool and the gold bear is made with tipped German mohair. All are fully jointed and have glass eyes, and are poly and pellet filled. It is a one of a kind piece made especially for Good Bears of the World. Penny thought of the idea of a child finding a lamp, rubbing the side and getting three wishes. Of course, the 3rd wish would be for a teddy bear and GBW is always there to provide teddy bears to children.

GBW is also grateful for the donation of many pieces of mohair by Roger and Sarah Neuscheler. Sarah was a teddy bear artist in Denver, Colorado who had to give up making bears due to failing eye-sight. Thank you Sarah, your generous donation will be used to make many teddy bears.

Penny and David French have been married over 45 years and live in Trout Run, Pennsylvania. A highlight of Penny's career was being a part of John Lamb's novel, The Clockwork Teddy. John said, "My wife, Joyce, and I can't seem to get enough of Penny's bears. They radiate a tangible aura of kindness and joy. We are also honored to count her as one of our friends."
